Repurposed DIY Thanksgiving Sign Made Out of  a Cabinet Door

I thought I’d take a break from my Halloween posts and share my repurposed DIY Thanksgiving sign I made. Seriously though, I’m a big fan of stenciling projects and I found great joy in taking my time and making this sign out of cabinet door I bought for $2.99 and the Habitat for Humanity. Here’s how I made it.

Time: 2-3 hours (including drying time)

Materials:

Notes: I got the Fusion Mineral Paint from Attics of My Life. You can message her on her Facebook page to buy it and tell her DIY Inspired sent you! I got the stencils at iStencil.com. They are the 3” Industrial font letters. I use them for SO many projects!

DIY Thanksgiving Sign Instructions:

I painted two coats of paint on my door allowing it to dry in between coats. Once the paint was dry, I stenciled the words onto my sign in pencil first. This way I could get the spacing correct. Once I was satisfied I started stenciling.  I stenciled from the outside in. It was the most efficient way to reduce time. I used a spouncer brush in an up and down motion. Wait a few minutes until the paint is dry to the touch to start the next letter.

I stenciled the words “gather together” in lowercase letters and “give thanks” in upper case letters. I displayed it on my buffet in my dining room. You can also add a hanger on the back to hang on a wall if desired.

Here are a few AFTER photos of my DIY Thanksgiving Sign.
