Although I am a big believer in all things colorful, for some reason I am completely drawn to the color of white. I think it is because if feels crisp and clean, perhaps even pure. White is classic and timeless. You can design an entire room inspired by white and it will relatively always stay in style. I put together two inspiration boards inspired by white. The first is a dining room and the second is a living area. Let’s start with the former.
I’m obsessed with the inspiration room. When I think of white, I think of the white sand on the beach and this photo shows that. It’s a dining room that you would want to linger and chat with friends long after dessert was served. The white laminate flooring goes on for days… all the way out to the ocean. White monogramed linens and classic white dinnerware keeps the atmosphere fresh and clean. White mixed with a natural wood table fits several styles from French Country and Rustic Chic to both classic and modern. It is also both masculine and feminine.
White design in a cozy living space is both sophisticated and fashionable. This living room can be located in a suburban home, rural countryside, or on the coast with an ocean view. It’s a great place to entertain and have a few cocktails and long conversations. Mixed with black and neutral tones, anyone can find comfort with this color combination. I love the tufted look of this arm chair along with its elegant studded arms. The pendant lamp shown is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen and fits my taste to the tee!
White fits all styles: traditional and contemporary, casual and classy, antique and updated. Keep that in mind for your next DIY design project!
