Winter Woodland Ornaments

I don’t know about you, but I have had the same Christmas decorations for ten years probably. Each year, I try to change them up a little by decorating in different ways.  This year, I wanted a more rustic feel. I added burlap ribbon to my garland on my staircase and mantel as well as to my tree and also decorated with some other natural elements like pine cones. I also made some new ornaments and wanted to share these adorable Winter Woodlands DIY Ornaments I made in a jiffy.

These are the glass ornaments I found. They have a fairly large opening that the wood slices and bird’s nest fit in perfectly.

Winter Woodland How To

Carefully using a hot glue gun, I glued the moss down first. Then, I glued the wood slices in two of them and the bird’s nest in the third one. I glued down the eggs in the nest, the single butterfly for the center ornament, and for the wired butterflies I put just a dab of hot glue at the end of the wire and it stuck to the wood slice perfectly.

I removed the existing red ribbon and replaced it with twine for a more winter woodland and rustic feel. Here are a few photos.

  1. You can do this with a real aquarium. Just put some clay on the bottom to keep it from rolling, or you can cut a close pin and glue to bottom Looks nice on a shelf.
