Toilet Paper Roll and Shoe Box Castle

Toilet Paper Roll and Shoe Box Castle, was originally published on my other blog that I had to say farewell to. BUT, I still wanted to share this fun project Mia and I did over here on DIY Inspired. I hope you like it!

Mia and I had SOOO much fun making this Toilet Paper Roll and Shoe Box Castle. We were bored one day and she said her usual, “Mommy let’s make a craft.” I love that she says that at age three! Since I save everything that I could possible craft with, I had paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, and shoe boxes handy…doesn’t everyone???

Here’s what we used:

  • Toilet Paper and Paper Towel Rolls
  • One shoe box
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Colors Markers
  • Sharp craft knife
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue and glue gun

I protected the craft table by covering it with paper so that Mia could paint and color freely and I wouldn’t worry. It was her idea to add a drawbridge, bushes, and windows.

I helped her by doing everything that involved scissors, hot glue, or the craft knife but she directed me VERY well (she for sure gets that from me…LOL).

She also wanted to make furniture on the inside so we cut some out of scrapbook paper scraps and felt. She asked me to make a pillow so with a little felt, glue, and a cotton ball we made an instant pillow.

Here’s how it turned out.  We even had a paper towel roll tree with green paper leaves and tissue paper.
