Craft Room Makeover: Paint and Color Consultation

This article, Craft Room Makeover: Paint and Color Consultation, is sponsored by Dunn-Edwards. All opinions are 100% my own.

You may already know that I have been in the works of my mission craft room makeover! So far, I have already covered my switchplates and upcycled my craft room stools. I also grabbed my inspiration fabric and headed over to Dunn-Edwards for my free color consultation and chose my paint colors!

I already knew that Dunn-Edwards is THE place for color and quality paint.  When we moved into this house, the previous owners had impeccable taste.  They left all their extra paint for us, all from Dunn-Edwards. One of the few rooms in our new home that wasn’t “made over” was my craft room. It still had the old built ins and molding from years ago.

Not really knowing what colors to paint, I made an appointment at Dunn-Edwards for a free color consultation. I must admit because I was really confused. I didn’t want to play it safe, but I also didn’t want to pick a color that I would regret later.

I met with Lori, who was AWESOME!!! She truly exceeded my expectations. I showed her my inspiration fabric, along with my pictures of the craft room and pictures of the rest of my house.  She quickly saw that the craft room was “not me”. After asking me several questions, she had honed in to my décor and color style. She was so informative and had great taste.  We played around with color combinations and she even google some pictures of craft rooms to look at for inspiration. She had such great advice. After about an hour, we had made some great choices and I was off with some paint samples.

Here is a video of my experience including my final paint color choices:

As you can see in the video, I chose two colors. One for above the existing chair rail and one for below the chair rail. I also decided to paint a chalkboard accent wall. Here are the colors I chose for your reference:

  • Dunn-Edwards DE 6366 Silver Spoon
  • Dunn-Edwards DE 6365 Cold Morning

Lori recommended EVEREST interior paint. I chose an eggshell finish because of my young kids.  The craft room is a high traffic area, of course! Dunn-Edwards Paints EVEREST is and ultra-premium paint, “The Best Paint We’ve Ever Made”.  It is 100% acrylic paint that has exceptional hide, adhesion and sheen uniformity. It is self-priming and virtually no odor.  As I painted I noticed great flow and leveling.

I am going to share the big Craft Room reveal tomorrow! But here is a sneak peek and a few before and after photos. You can see the difference in paint.
