How to Make a No Sew Elf on the Shelf Skirt for Less
If you love the Elf on the Shelf tradition at Christmas time like I do, you know where I’m coming from on this post! Being the Crafty Mom I am, one night last year, had Josie our elf make her own no sew Elf on the Shelf skirt. I felt that Josie was a little naked with no clothes AND I wasn’t about to spend $10 on a pre-made skirt at the store.
She does look a little naked here doesn’t she? This was one of her antics last year:

Making the Apron
You will need
To make the apron you only need three items:
- Red and white felt
- Scissors
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Instructions:
Cut out these three shapes out of the felt. I literally “winged it” on this one as far as the pattern and size goes. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I actually used felt scraps. You don’t need much for that tiny Elf waist!
I used a hot glue gun (because it’s quick and easy) and glued it together like this.
I tied it around her waist as shown.
It turned out great and the red and white felt match her perfectly.

Where did you get the head? I got an elf almost identical, with the same head as yours, on a box of Russell Stover chocolates on 1966 and it has been on my Christmas tree ever since.

I was hoping fora template– want to make one for a great niece out of town — but don’t have an elf. Can you tell me the size around the waist and about the length — wanted to make the shoes also
Hi Sandy! The waist is about 5 inches around. I think a good length for the skirt is about 3 inches. For the shoes, if you use the handle of a foam paint brush (or even a pencil) as your guide, it’s the perfect size! I hope this helps!
