Upcycled Wooden Ruler Patriotic Wreath

Remember these old wooden fold out rulers? I hadn’t seen one since I was little. For some reason I remember playing with my dad’s in our garage. I was antique shopping in Orange a few months ago and just had to buy it, for that reason…it reminded me of my dad. So, after months sitting in my craft room, I finally decided to make an Upcycled Ruler Patriotic Wreath DIY.

Materials:

The ruler folds into ten sides, so it makes the perfect five point star!

I like to use artificial flowers on my wreaths like I did for this Valentine wreath, and this St. Patty’s Day wreath, and this radiant orchid address wreath! I used pliers to cut one stem off of a bunch of white hydrangeas. I coiled the stem tightly.  This will allow the flower to attach to the ruler, flags, and other flowers.

The coil I made in the back worked brilliantly because the wire stem was so thick, so I was able to tuck in some blue artificial flowers, and two small American flags at the bottom of the wreath.
