Instructions

  1. Cut floral wire in 2 to 3-inch-long pieces with multimedia scissors.  You will need one for each clover. Each clover needs four hearts. Punch out the hearts with a craft punch.
  2. Next, fold each heart in half.  Prep several hearts before using the hot glue.
  3. Using a hot glue gun place a small dab of glue on the tip of the floral wire.

4. Place the tip of one folded heart into the glue. Let it dry for three to four seconds. Glue on the other three hearts to form a four leaf clover.

5. Put foam inside a container or vase. (Tip: Keep Styrofoam from shipping packages for projects like this. It’s so expensive in the store!)

6. Place each clover into the Styrofoam one by one until your clover patch is complete. Use a small shallow container similar to what you would use for mini succulents.

I don’t have craft punches, Now what?

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make them if you don’t have craft punches on hand.

Instructions

Prepare Your Paper:
Start by selecting your green paper. You can use plain green paper or paper with a pattern if you prefer. Cut the paper into squares. The size of the square will determine the size of your clover. A good starting size is around 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) square.

Fold the Paper:
Take one of the squares and fold it diagonally to form a triangle. Crease the fold well.
Then, fold the triangle in half again, creating a smaller triangle. Crease the fold.

Cut Out Clover Shapes:
With the folded triangle in front of you, use scissors to cut out a curved shape along the open edges of the triangle. This curved shape will form the rounded petals of your clover.
Be careful not to cut all the way through the folded edge; leave a bit of space to keep the shape intact.

Unfold and Adjust:
Carefully unfold the paper to reveal your clover shape. You should have a four-leaf clover with rounded edges.
If needed, make any adjustments to the shape by trimming the edges or reshaping the leaves with your scissors.

Add Details:
If you want to add some extra detail to your clovers, you can use a pen or pencil to draw lines or patterns on the leaves to mimic the veins of a real clover.

Display and Use Your Paper Clovers

Once you’ve made as many paper clovers as you’d like, you can use them to:

    • Decorate cards, banners, or other crafts.
    • Attach them to a string to make a festive garland
    • Simply scatter them around as decorations
    • Glue them onto greeting cards, bookmarks, or even onto a headband for a St. Patrick’s Day accessory.

Enjoy making your paper clovers! It’s a great way to add a touch of green to your decorations for St. Patrick’s Day or any other occasion.
